A Mighty Wind

Today we had wind gusts of nearly 40 miles per hour. The group was a bit skittish when we were exposed to some of the big gusts. Sometimes I wonder how the wind impacts dogs perception given that their sense of smell is estimated to be between 1,000 to 10,000 times stronger that of humans. Would this be similar to a human experience of having the sun shine brighter or walking by an extended perfume counter during the holiday shopping season?

Communication is a two way street

On an evening walk we passed by a woman whose dog immediately started lunging toward our group. She exclaimed to her dog in an exasperated tone, as he dragged her across the park, “how many times do we have to talk about this!” This brought a quote to mind from one of the great movies of all time, Cool Hand Luke, “What we’ve got here is a failure to communicate”.

36 dog miles today with 591 since tracking began.
